Each tax year will be recalculated if you enter a claim. This often identifies other overpayments due to incorrect tax codes, multiple employments, ceasing of job, etc. In these cases we can identify a much larger tax rebate. We regularly identify rebates of over £1,000 for customers who were originally estimated a lower amount.

If you claim now you will receive tax relief for the current tax year and future years that allowances continue to apply, paid through your monthly pay. The value of this is usually £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year.

You don’t need to make any upfront payment to us in order for us to check if you are due a rebate.

We will ensure that your current year reliefs are correct and that your future year allowances are adjusted in line with the current year to ensure you are no longer being overtaxed. There will be no charge for this service.

The annual saving of £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year for the current and future years will not be subject to charge. You will receive this automatically in your pay once your tax code has been adjusted.

We will also check the earlier years to determine if you can claim back any previously overpaid tax. HMRC will pay any rebate due directly to us and we will forward payment to you, in due course, net of our deductions of 28%, plus VAT, where due, providing the net refund payment is £20 or more.

We will issue your refund through our Uniform Benefits payment card which you can withdraw cash on at a cashpoint or spend in shops or online like a normal debit card. If you use your card at selected retailers you can also earn additional cashback to continue to spend.

Claim Tax Relief on Tools & Equipment

If you’re required to buy tools or equipment to help you perform your role, you may be entitled to claim the tax back on these items.

If you don’t have receipts for the items you’ve bought – don’t worry. We’ve successfully claimed tax back for thousands of people in these circumstances. In the rare cases that HMRC flags a claim, we have successfully appealed to the maximum tax rebate.

What Can You Claim a Tax Refund On?

HMRC determines that you can claim tax relief on the cost of the following:

  • The repair or replacement of small tools that you require to perform your job, for examples knives, drills, screwdrivers etc.
  • Repairing or replacing specialist clothing, for example non-slip safety shoes, overalls, whites etc.

Who Can Benefit?

Whatever job you do, you may be entitled to a tax rebate on tools. Common professions that claim rebates on tools include:

Chefs

Knives and utensils are vital for chefs and kitchen workers to perform their job. If you have to purchase your own, you may be able to claim the tax back on the cost.

You can also claim tax back if you have to buy your own chef whites or safety shoes.

Teachers

If you have to buy sportswear to teach PE, or other equipment for the classroom out of your own pocket, you may be able to claim tax back.

What Else Can You Claim For?

As well as tools and equipment, you might be able to claim tax back on professional fees, as well as uniform tax rebate if you wash your work clothes at home.

The tax refunds you claim can be backdated by up to 4 years, so the money you are due can quickly add up. Use our uniform tax rebate calculator to see how much you could be due and start your rebate now.
